Inderbinen died in his sleep Monday at his home in the southern Swiss resort of Zermatt.
Inderbinen was born in Zermatt in 1912 and began working as a mountain guide in 1933. He retired in 1965, but came out of retirement at the age of 80 to start leading hikers again.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
