How do I get to Mount Fuji 5th station?
The fifth station on Mt. Fuji can be reached by car via the Subaru Line, a scenic toll road that climbs the lower northern slopes of the mountain. The road is typically accessible most of the year, but is closed to private vehicles during the busy climbing season from July 1 to September 10.
The climbing distance from the 5th station to the summit of Mt. Fuji is approximately 50km. The same trail is used for both ascending and descending. The average time required for ascent is about 4~7 hours and 2~3 hours for descent, excluding the time for rest.
Which station is best for Mount Fuji
If you’re looking to visit Mount Fuji from Tokyo, the best way to do it is to take the Fujikyu Railway Line from Shinjuku Station. The Limited Express Fuji Excursion runs direct from Shinjuku to stations including Otsuki, Mt Fuji and Kawaguchiko, and the journey takes around 115 minutes / JPY4130.
The most popular way to climb Mount Fuji is to take a bus from Shinjuku to the Subaru Fifth Station and arrive in the early afternoon and then climb to one of the mountain huts on the route. You spend the night there and then wake very early before dawn to climb to the summit in time to see the sunrise.
Is there a cable car to Mt. Fuji?

Can you take a bullet train to Mt. Fuji?
The bullet train doesn’t take you to Mt Fuji’s 5th Station, but it will take you to a nearby area with some of the best views of the mountain. Using your JR pass (Japan Rail pass), board the Tokaido Shinkansen train in Tokyo and travel to Odawara Station. From there, take the Mt. Fuji Climbing Bus to Fuji Visitor Center Bus Terminal. The bus ride takes about 50 minutes.
If you’re using a JR Pass to travel to Kawaguchiko Station, you’ll need to pay for a separate one-way ticket for the Fujikyu Railway Line (1,140 yen).

From Tokyo, take the JR Tōkaidō Shinkansen to Shizuoka. Change to the Fujikyuko Line for Kawaguchiko Station. From Kawaguchiko, take the Fujikyu Line bus bound for “Ōtsuki/Mt. Fuji/Fuji Five Lakes” and get off at the “Fuji Subaruyo Center” stop.
To get to station 5 on Mount Fuji, you will need to take the Fuji 5th stage bus from Fujisan Station. The bus journey takes around 90 minutes. Once you arrive at the 5th station, you will be able to see the magnificent views of Mount Fuji.
